In November 2014 the Lord lead Rev. Frederick D. Berry, Sr. and other faithful supporters to form First Community Church of Tyler as a church plant in Tyler, Texas.  With a theme, Growing Lives to Become More Like Christ, the church seeks to minister to Tyler and surrounding communities.  First Community Church of Tyler is a multi-generational, multi-ethnic fellowship of believers who come together to form its community of faith.  We believe that as Christians we can effect change by becoming the church and not conforming to the world's standards.  Our mission includes intentional ministries to our city's population from its local colleges and universities to our retirement community and all within.

Often times we are asked what drives us to do what we do, how we do it and why we do it.  Our answer is simple: our love for God and God’s people is our reason for ministering.  Our passion is to see people saved delivered and set free from things that suppress and hold them in some type of modern-day bondage.  This drives us to provide effective and affective ministry.  We understand that people are people, regardless of their background, social-economic status, race, religion, pre-conceived notions and agendas, as well as their biases and prejudices.  The basic common factor is that we all have needs, we all have issues and most importantly, God has a love for all of us.  Our prayer is that God will use us to be a tool to minister to God’s people in a way that will spread the love of God through the Word of God by (1) winning lost souls to Christ; (2) empowering Christian growth in every area of life according to God’s plan; and (3) liberating those who are oppressed.  These three areas of ministry do not represent the sum total of our church philosophy because each area is multifaceted and complex.  However, these categories offer a broad stroke that provides the blueprint for effective ministry.
